the masthead stands out as it is in red and white, the image potrays menace, as the lighting is darker around his eyes this links to the genre of music that the artist is involved in, the outfit is traditional of the artists background (this is what they would where in his city/state) will attract male audience 18-35. the headline "Still Trap Or Die" sounds serious and firm and the image relates, because the man has a straight, serious-like facial expression. The teaser will pull peoples interest, "death of the super producer?" death is a serious subject so people will be engaged after seeing this. Rap/Hip-Hop/Trap genres are depicted through the dark colours, and the attire. Fonts used are bold and effective , which catches the eye of the readers. The main image includes a microphone which subliminally tells us that he is a musician.
XXL CONTENTS PAGE:
the main image has the artists dressed in dark clothing and gold jewellery which is a stereotype of what a rapper would wear. The quote says "without 50 Cent there would be no Soulja Boy" they show this through the image as it has 50 Cent standing behind Soulja Boy looking over his shoulder. the masthead Is above the main image and is split up into 7 sections, the structure of the text is split into paragraphs and features, use of slang attracts the audience
XXL DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD:
the main image on the DPS will attract anyone as soon as they open the page, the man is dressed in white which symbolises perfection and his face is covered to where you can only see his eyes. this puts forward a "gangster" vibe/impression, which links to the personality of the artist himself. The lighting focuses more on his arms, highlighting his muscles suggesting masculinity and power. The cover line says "Over Here Hustlin", hustling meaning making money and doing crime if necessary which is why his face is covered in the image. the text is aligned and structured in paragraphs which makes it much easier to read and looks presentable. the language used is quite informal and slang is used to appeal to the target audience and it addresses the audience directly.
THE SOURCE:
the image has the artists face with him putting a gun to his own neck, The Mise-en scene is the caption "Suicide is not an option" and the image shows someone about to commit suicide or maybe not? The image is big and bold and takes up most of the centre of the page. All of the important text is highlighted in Red because it stands out, the main headline and the pull quote is also in bright red , having a gun on the front page relates to the music genre which has a lot of gun involvement in songs. The structure of the text remains the same. There is a heading or (sub-heading) then the text below it e.g pull quote, teasers, barcode, advertisements , formal language is used on the front page.
